Carter Ewing, 38, is a founding
principal of PENINSULA RETAIL DEVELOPMENT based
in Newport Beach, California. PENINSULA RETAIL DEVELOPMENT
specializes in retail shopping center development
throughout southern California and in the Sacramento
region of northern California. Currently PENINSULA
RETAIL DEVELOPMENT has 6 active developments underway,
containing more than 250,000 square feet of retail
buildings and valued upon completion in excess of
$45 million. Prior to forming PENINSULA RETAIL DEVELOPMENT,
Mr. Ewing was the Managing Regional Partner for
Koll Development Company in Denver, Colorado. As
a Senior Partner with Koll, Mr. Ewing was responsible
for all development activities within the Rocky
Mountain Region. Under his guidance, the Denver
office of Koll Development constructed over 2 million
square feet of speculative commercial properties,
including the Koll Peoria Center, Koll Centennial
Center, the $100 million Flatiron Marketplace, and
the Jefferson Corporate Center. Mr. Ewing was responsible
for overseeing all aspects of these developments,
including land acquisition, financing (debt and
equity procurement), construction management, leasing
and marketing (including such recognized retailers
as The Great Indoors, Best Buy, Office Depot, Nordstrom
Rack, Linens n' Things, etc), property management,
and asset disposition.
Prior to assuming his responsibilities at Koll
in 1997, Mr. Ewing served as Owner and President
of Ewing Development Company in Denver, Colorado.
The Ewing Development Company, through various
partnership entities, remains involved in various
Colorado real estate investment and development
projects and has since 1993, including the development
of a residential subdivision, commercial redevelopment,
self-storage facilities, and a manufactured housing
community. The current Jefferson Marketplace shopping
center development in Littleton, Colorado is a
project Mr. Ewing is involved in through his Ewing
Development Company entity. Prior to forming Ewing
Development Company, Mr. Ewing oversaw the management,
development, and asset disposition of a 3,600-acre
master planned mixed-use project in Castle Rock,
Colorado, including the successful restructuring
of over $90,000,000 in defaulted municipal bond
obligations. In addition, Mr. Ewing has served
as a development consultant to various property
owners since 1994.
Prior to his Colorado activities (1993-2002),
Mr. Ewing resided in Southern California and worked
for such well-known real estate firms as CB Commercial,
Nexus Development, Warmington Homes, and Brighton
Communities. Directly responsible for mixed-use
land development projects valued in excess of
$200 million, Mr. Ewing served as both Project
Manager and Director of Land Development for Brighton
Communities from 1989 through 1992. During his
employment with Brighton, Mr. Ewing oversaw construction
of 1,100 housing units, and the development of
nearly 2,000 acres of land.
Mr. Ewing attended the University of Southern
California, earning a degree in Entrepreneurship
in 1987. Through his affiliated companies, Mr.
Ewing is a member of the National Association
of Industrial and Office Properties, the Society
of Industrial and Office Realtors, and the International
Council of Shopping Centers. Carter is an avid
sailor and golfer, was born and raised in Newport
Beach (until moving to Colorado at age 28), and
returned to Southern California from Colorado
in February of 2002. Carter is married to wife
Sarah and has a daughter Lauren (2.5 yrs.) and
a son Preston (8 mo.'s).
